Dear Ed, I have corrected the name of your boat on our web site- love to see more pictures showing more of the detail or more sailing pictures if you have them. Happy Sailing, Will

Hi Will - I have checked my Flag Sheet - Sailboats' name is "SILLY RABBIT" (cartoon Rabbit used for Trix), my wifes' nickname. Here are pics taken at Swift Creek Reservoir. I have more. Thanks Ed

"Silly Rabbit"

Dear Ed, Great pictures, I love them! Your deck is beautiful. The detail around the back of the deck is gorgeous and the planked effect is very striking. I will correct the name again on our web site and add these great pictures! The reservoir looks like a great place to sail! Love to see more pictures if you have them. We just got back from a week sailing out on the Sound - very relaxing. Beautiful weather and lovely islands to anchor at and explore. Happy Sailing! Will

Hi - you asked for it - here are a couple of more Pics - Probably played with the LOOKs of my sloop more than I should have - but sure I had BIG FUN for about six months. Ed

We sent a small fleet of boats to Boston for the kids in the Charleston LaCrosse program and Kate sent really nice pictures and wrote back:

Thanks for the boats! The kids had a great time, and learned a lot too! Have a great summer,

I think Mara looks pleased in this picture. Her Dad wrote:

Here's Mara (5 years old) with her T15 in Northern Ontario, Canada (Lake
Muskosung). We just got back to Ohio and had a great time sailing it on
vacation. By the way, I don't know if you are interested but that is a 1950s
Rhodes bantum sailboat at the dock - as much fun as the Tippie!

I am "well chuffed with it".

Pictures of the T-Class Racing Sloop sailing in the classic Sherringham model sailing pond in England, by the sea, sent to us by David Younghusband. Thank you for your fine pictures and your very enjoyable correspondence. What a lovely place for our boat to be sailing.

I had previously mentioned in an e-mail that my Mother used to sail her model boat in a pond in London. David wrote back as follows

"Will,

Did your mother used to sail her yachts at the round boating lake in Regents Park?

I went to Sheringham on Saturday with the family and by coincidence they have a big boating pond built probably 1920's or 30's (Boating Lake). The yacht happened to be in the car. She sails beautifully, in fact she was even faster than some of the bigger radio controlled yachts and raised a few comments from passers by at how well she sailed and the beautiful wood. I am "well chuffed with it".

I had in the recent past made and sailed Skipper wooden hulled yachts that sail OK for my daughters. The TBoat is in a different league. There was a wooden hulled kit of Steinlarger II I also recently made sold by Lagoon Games, this was a very disappointing kit and I had to make many alterations to get the thing to sail (additional lead on the keel, thinner lighter dowels for the masts and booms). Too much sail and top heavy meant that it capsized even in no wind.

I have a R/C yacht kit that is built and can sail, but the detail fittings have not been added. That too can only sail in light winds due to disappointing lack of weight in the keel. (not a Tippecanoe boat)

That's why I love these simple to sail yachts that give me and the children great fun. No batteries or electric's to worry about, quick to set up and sail. Just a bit of trimming the sails to try and get the best performance and get the longest run across the pond or the fastest tack.

I will try and get a good picture and be sure to send it on.

I guess some things I will never grow out of.

Regards...David"

"Dear David,
It would be terrific to get a sailing picture. My mother
used to sail her boat on Round Pond in London when she was growing up.
Happy Sailing,
Will"

"Will,
I finally got round to using the film up in my camera and sending the film off.

Attached are 3 photographs as promised.

By the way the Round pond is still there. It is a national monument, like the
statue of Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens - One of London's oasis of a green
park in the west end of London.

Regards...David"

Coincidentally on our recent cruise to Desolation Sound in B.C. another person told me she was "well chuffed" with her boat which she had just acquired and was cruising in down to Victoria. She comes originally from New Zealand and her newly acquired boat was a 32 foot cruising sloop. We met her in Nanaimo. I had not heard the phrase "well chuffed" before David's letter, but I like it immensely. One knows exactly what it means and it seems to apply especially well to boats!

Also from England come photos of a T-Class sailing in Surrey from Austin Wilkinson. It is wonderful to have such a good representation now of pictures from England because we do have many, many boats sailing there and model boating is a great English tradition. The pictures were accompanied with the kind note:

"While I was on holiday in Seattle this Summer, I came across your boats in a toy shop. I loved the clean and elegant design, and bought a T-class. I enjoyed making it very much and she sails beautifully.

Attached are a couple of photos of the boat "Dreamcatcher" sailing on Papercourt lake, Surrey, England. Please feel free to put these on your website if you wish. I hope to see more of your boats in the UK in future!

Regards,

Austin Wilkinson"

From Holland come the pictures of Pieter Meijers' T-Class Racing Sloop with the note:

Dear sir,
A sailing picture I cannot give you at the moment, there is ice on the water. But I give you the picture of the completion of the boat. It was fun building it, and your directions were good to understand.
Met vriendelijke groeten, (That’s dutch for"with kind regards")
Pieter Meijers

Pieter is now working on a T37 Radio Control sloop. Perhaps we'll have pictures of the T37 and the T-Class sailing together when the ice melts. Thanks Pieter for the beautiful pictures! What an elegant finishing job!
