Bruce Elfstrom sent us these fine pictures of the family's 4th of July regatta sailing the T37 RC Model Sailboats. The family bought 6 of the T37 Radio Control kits, built them and had great races from the shore in front of their summer home on their island in Maine. Bruce who orchestrated the family regatta runs Overland Experts ( www.overlandexperts.com ) which conducts fabulous tours to remote areas of the world in four wheel drive vehicles. Expeditions include trips to Iceland, Namibia, Egypt, Labrador, Mongolia and Moab. If you get a chance to visit their web site, it cannot help but spark dreams of travel adventures. Joining one of their trips would be a lifetime experience.

The second set of pictures Bruce sent show his T37, "Dulcibella", sailing in Newport, Rhode Island, in big waves with winds gusting over 20 knots. The pictures really capture how well the T37s sail.

Pre-regatta practice around the course. The islands of Maine have the most amazing granite outcroppings and huge smooth granite shapes worn smooth by the waves.

And now on to Newport, Rhode Island with "Dulcibella" sailing in winds that are building from 12 knots to over 20 knots. Bruce at the helm of "Dulcibella" concentrating as the wind picks up.

Thanks, Bruce, for the great pictures. The Maine pictures remind me of the summers I spent in Maine as a sailing instructor at the Hurricane Island Outward Bound School and then the two summers I spent running a Hinckley 49 Ketch as a charter skipper for the Hinckley Boat Company in Southwest Harbor. Happy Sailing, Will

Don in Boston has done a beautiful job with his T37 radio control yacht. The quality of the finish is gorgeous, also his stand is nothing short of impressive. Don's elegant home makes a beautiful backdrop for displaying "Dinah II". You might think Don would be hesitant about sailng his boat when he has done such a superb job finishing her, but not at all! He has her out on a pond in Boston first and then later she is sailing on the Charles River, which flows through Boston. I believe these pictures are taken near MIT, although Don may correct me. It has been some years since I lived and taught in Boston. Those were years when I taught English at the Park School in Brookline and taught sailing (in Solings and J24's) and celestial navigation at the Boston Sailing Center.

Don, Thanks for these wonderful pictures. They really show the boat sailing beautifully. It looks like a splendid day out on the water. "Dinah II" is the perfect yacht and the pictures show how fast and maneuverable she is. I hope you have many, many years of happy sailing with her. I have enjoyed our correspondence, let's stay in touch. Happy Sailing, Will
