Bing Copeland has built two of the T-37s and has done a beautiful job on them.
"Thanks Will, for the markers. I put them together and my son and I gave them a try out. You can see the mark in the wing & wing photo.
Thanks again for the wonderful service. - Bing"
"I’m attaching a few pics of T37 Hull #2440. I enjoyed building it using the very thorough instructions and bits and pieces from the various videos. I skipped around a little and actually did a lot of the hull work without the deck in place. I then used CA to tack half-inch pieces of scrap veneer along the top of the sides that made aligning/attaching the deck a breeze.
As you can see, I decided against the mylar hatch covers, since the boat will primarily be on display with others. The RC hatch is a snug fit, so I’m not too concerned about water intrusion. (If it gets rough, I’ll seal it with tape. The rudder hatch is taped on.) I used a couple coats of Klass Kote epoxy paint, then many coats of Helmsman Spar Varnish. I could have done a better job of sealing the grain, but none-the-less I’m satisfied with the result.
I’m ordering a blue jib – I think it will go well with the hull. (I got the paint scheme from sailing Naval Academy yawls and schooners many years ago.)
Thanks for providing a quality, enjoyable experience, - Bob Maier"
"Don, John and I met at Speckles for some very peaceful sailing. The kids were just passing by, no relationship.

Tabor Academy is a Marine-oriented private school in Marion, Massachusetts. They have built over 350 T-27s since 2010 in their naval architecture and design class. Building the T-27 gives the students a hands-on experience with constructing an actual boat that performs beautifully on the water. Many colleges are finding that entering students have very limited skills visualizing three dimensions, so constructing the T-27 enhances the students' ability to think in three dimensions and communicates engineering concepts of loads and required strengths at the same time as keeping overall weight to a minimum for the sake of performance.
Here is the classic boat house on Spreckels Lake in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. If you are ever visiting San Francisco and find the boat house open, make sure to go in and see the incredible classic model yachts, many from early in the last century. These are truly incredible works of art!
David built one T-37 for his son and then his daughter was so eager to have one for herself that he built a second one for her. Happy Sailing!
"We launched our second T-37 today, The Flying Squirrel on her maiden voyage in Sprekels Lake. She's the sister ship to The Golden Eagle completed in 2012. Great fun to match race the two.Now that my kids each have one, the next one I build for myself.
Cheers! Happy Sailing! - David Golden"
There is nothing we like better than to see a family working together to build one of our boats. Frequently it is a grandfather and a grandson working together, or a father and son, or mother and child, but here we have three generations - what could be better!
"Thanks Will,
The project meant a lot to me and to my son, my grandson won’t completely appreciate the project until he is older, but he liked helping and sailing the boat. I’ve always wanted to do a woodworking project with my son, I’m grateful I got the chance.
Here are some more pictures
